Located at the ground floor of DLF Tower on Shivaji Marg in New Delhi, the first demo centre of Mimaki in India is measured around 3,000 sq ft. The centre easily accommodates up to 10 wide-format machines at a time, providing visitors live running and demonstrations of the displaying machines. In a brief conversation with Sign & Graphics, Tomohiro Ikeda, managing director, Mimaki India Private Limited, says the opening of the demo centre is an important move they have strategically taken up to intensify the company’s presence in the Indian market.

“At the demo centre, we demonstrate our range of machines, which consist of the latest releases and upgraded models,” mentions Tomohiro, adding that the technologies on display at the centre are predominantly of UV, Latex and eco-solvent machines. The line up consists of a whole gamut of Mimaki machines, from entry-level to high-end models, designed for all possible applications that any print solution provider may like to pick up to fulfill customers of varied backgrounds. Whether it is UV flatbed or roll-to-roll systems, the centre has it all under its roof.

Demonstrated machines

As of now, the demo centre houses different Mimaki systems of different technological advantages—namely, Mimaki UJF-7151 plus UV flatbed inkjet printer; Mimaki JFX 200-2513 UV LED flatbed inkjet; Mimaki JV 300 Series, all for solvent/water-based sublimation inks; Mimaki CG-SR III Series cutting plotters; Mimaki SIJ-300 UV LED inkjets series; Mimaki JV 400 Latex Series for odour-free aqueous, resin-based technology with proven green qualities, among others. “We are introducing this Latex series in the coming Media Expo 2016, to be organised this month at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi,” informs Tomohiro.

Highly accurate in printing, Mimaki UJF-7151 plus UV flatbed inkjet printer is featured with Mimaki Advanced Press System 4 (MAPS 4), which reduces banding and uneven, colour banding with blurred boundaries. Also, this printer is bundled with ‘RasterLink 6 RIP software containing MFD1, an image noise reduction function. Currently demonstrating at the centre, Mimaki JV 150 is yet another unique system equipped with two-ink cartridge per colour; when one becomes empty, ink supply continues from the other, preventing suspension during printing process.

In the line of cutting plotters, Mimaki CG-SR III Series are some of the affordably priced, but technologically advanced cutting systems. These plotters are designed with upgraded doubled curve-cutting speed, which makes the machines capable to take complicated cutting tasks. Mimaki JV 300 Series are inkjet systems for water-based sublimation inks and these printers are known for outstanding maximum printing speed of 105.9 sq m/hr, providing both high productivity and high image quality.

Mimaki JFX 200 Series in the demo centre is a newly introduced system, an entry-level model UV LED flatbed printer, suitably designed for print solution firms to expand new possibilities in business. Capable to print directly on media of 50 mm thick, this series of flatbed printers easily handle 1220x2440 mm panel boards.

Broad distributorship

Mimaki India has so far been partnered with some of the leading machine suppliers that take care of distributing all machine models in any far and near geography of the country. “Now we have tied up with four Indian suppliers; hopefully more can be come up as per our requirement in future,” says Tomohiro.

When asked about the number of demonstration centres they plan for the Indian market, Tomohiro says the number could be of any, but after the Delhi centre, what we are planning is to open another one soon in the western part of the country.
