A summary of surging signage solutions shown at drupa 2024
Over a period of 11 days, 1,646 exhibitors from 52 countries at drupa 2024 presented innovative technologies and solutions, encompassing all segments including the digital large-format printing (signage), for shaping the industry now and in future. Here’s a report from Sign & Graphics on some of the surging signage solutions shown at drupa 2024.
There was a great deal of excitement at drupa 2024, which was organised from May 28 to June 07 June at Messe Düsseldorf, Germany, marking it as landmark return after an eight-year hiatus. The show with a series of events and forums such as drupa cube, drupa touchpoint sustainability, drupa touchpoint packaging, drupa dna and drupa touchpoint textile provided valuable know-how with a focus on digitalisation & sustainability.
A host of who-is-who from the signage sector were amidst the galaxy of exhibitors from the printing and packaging industry. Here they are!
Agfa: Agfa, with two prestigious EDP Awards at drupa 2024, demonstrated its inkjet excellence by showcasing of the award-winning Anapurna Ciervo H3200 approaching any printing job with great agility. It provides perfect fit for printing companies looking for a versatile printer to tackle a wide range of print jobs.
Canon: Canon expanded the appeal of its Colorado M-Series by introducing new innovations that offer both new and existing customers an expanded application range. It includes the new feature FLXture—a five-ink-layer printing technology and PRISMAguide XL software for preparing UVgel ink layers.
Color-Logic: World’s metallic colour communication leader Color-Logic showed its pioneering technology utilising silver ink or toner on conventional substrates, or white ink or toner on metallic stock. It continued to revolutionize the way designers and brands approach print embellishment.
Drytac: Drytac’s materials were used by several leading manufacturers as part of live product demonstrations during drupa 2024. HP, which has several booths, ran Drytac material on its HP Latex 800W and HP Latex 2700W printers. Elsewhere, MUTOH and FUJIFILM also used various Drytac materials.
Durst: At drupa 2024, Durst Group announced its partnership with Titchfield Group that involves huge investments planned for UK and international sites. Titchfield Group is the UK’s largest provider of OOH services. Headquartered in Cuffley, Titchfield Group also has other sites in France, Spain, Italy & Germany.
EPSON: Designed for DTF single step pigment ink textile printing, Monna Lisa 13000 is a newly launched system which Canon showcased at drupa 2024. Monna Lisa 13000 delivers in-line printing using more sustainable pigment inks. It requires no additional equipment for pre and post treatment, etc.
Fiery: Fiery showcased innovations in DFEs and workflow software, which drives the future of digital printing. With solutions for sign & display graphics, industrial, DTF, DTG, and other specialty production printers, Fiery technology makes producing all types of digital print jobs easier.
FUJIFILM: Following the introduction of its water-based UV patented ink technology AQUAFUZE, FUJIFILM Group previewed its new Acuity Triton—a 1.6m width printer that brings together two titans of the wide-format inkjet industry. FUJIFILM also previewed Acuity Hybrid—a new Acuity Ultra Hybrid.
HandTop: Launched at drupa 2024, HandTop pulled crowds to its newly unpacked HTA 2500 Robo printer. Key features of the newly launched HTA 2500 Robo include UV with UV LED lamps and 18 Kyocera printheads positioned in three rows. It boasts automatic plate loading and unloading systems.
HP: HP Large Format announced some of the newest innovations within its HP Latex print portfolio, promising radical improvements in productivity for customers around the globe. The innovations included the Latex ink with the new 10L ink accessory for the HP Latex 2700 printer.
JWEI: As drupa 2024 unfolded, JWEI’s booth became a bustling hub, warmly embracing both familiar faces and newcomers alike. The booth buzzed with activity as it offered comprehensive insights into the company’s cutting-edge technology and product line-up, including JWEI live demonstrations.
Kyocera: Kyocera Document Solutions revealed its ambitious vision for inkjet commercial printing alongside its leading TASKalfa Pro 15000c. The launch of the new TASKalfa Pro 55000c marked a sneak peek at the future through the FOREARTH textile printer and Belharra Kyocera Nixka inkjet photo printer.
Kongsberg: The newly launched Kongsberg Ultimate is already living up to its name, with the game-changing new cutting platform proving the ultimate success – smashing sales targets even before its global debut at drupa 2024. Visitors enjoyed Kongsberg Ultimate in action at drupa 2024!
MIMAKI: MIMAKI’s vision for a more sustainable future was evident in its product line at drupa 2024. With its recently launched UCJV330-160, an integrated sign printer/cutter, central to the company’s booth were the JFX600-2513 printer and CFX-2513 flatbed cutter.
Massivit: Massivit 3D Printing Technologies sold 15 Massivit 3000 printers valued at $3 million during drupa 2024. At the show, Massivit launched the Massivit 3000—the latest large-scale 3D printer belonging to its Gel Dispensing Printing product line, designed for high-speed production of large parts.
MUTOH: MUTOH had previewed two new printers at drupa 2024—first, HydrAton 1642, a 64-inch roll-to-roll printer integrated with water-based UV print technology and second, XpertJet1682UR, a dual-headed 64-inch printer that uses MUTOH’s environment-friendly US61 Series inks.
swissQprint: Designed to maintain high productivity in flatbed printing by relieving operators of unloading tasks, swissQprint introduced an automation option at drupa 2024. Visitors appreciated the diversity of applications the machine can handle.
Zund: Zünd presented its modular product portfolio during drupa 2024 under the motto ‘Performance Across the Board’. Zünd’s top priority is to digitalise and automate the value chains of its customers, thus increasing their competitiveness.
Sabine Geldermann, Director drupa, Portfolio Print Technologies, stated that at drupa 2024, visitors experienced firsthand just how relevant and resilient this industry is. The next drupa is set to be held in 2028.
